The regions that make up the Hizen ceramic area have been blessed with conditions for the ceramic industry, such as pottery stone, fuel (mountains), and water (rivers), and have flourished in the production of porcelain.

Currently, many of the potteries in the Hizen ceramic area manufacture porcelain that is fired at over 1300℃ using Amakusa pottery stone produced in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
